Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love going shopping at the crowded malls. I love riding the pink pig (Macy’s kiddie ride) every year with my boys. Every year our 3 boys write out a wish list. As we read through the Gospels, it is clear there are some characteristics that a child of God should possess or “wish for.”
This Christmas there are 7 characteristics found in the Christmas story that I pray we all allow God to manifest in our lives.
- I want to be obeying God like Joseph – Matthew 1:18-25
- I want to be trusting God like Mary – Luke 1:37-38
- I want to be praising God like the Angels – Luke 2:13-14
- I want to be seeking God like the Shepherds – Luke 2:8-12 and 15-18
- I want to be following God like the Wise Men – Matthew 2:1-2
- I want to be worshipping God like the Wise Men – Matthew 2:11
- I want to be giving like God – John 3:16
If you will take the time to read through the Gospels, you will find that these are characteristics that we don’t have to “wish for.” A born-again child of God actually already possesses all of these and more, yet they will only be manifested as we yield our lives to Jesus Christ and allow Him to be LORD. Merry Christmas!
